We never stock roast coffee on the shelf. We put a monumental effort on our supply chain to ensure that each customer will receive the freshest possible coffee. While the coffee won’t technically expire, most speciality coffees will start losing the intensity of its flavours two weeks’ of the roast date.

Always check the roast date, and live by the trusted adage that fresher the better. Different pour over techniques are sensitive to different degrees of roast.

The vital – and volatile – component in brewing a fresh cup of coffee is the human factor. It is essential that our coffee is stored properly, processed and grounded appropriately and brewed meticulously..

A competent Barista will understand the equipment and recognise the importance of a carefully roasted coffee. We believe that the Barista is the final link between the farms and the consumer, identifying each roast, patiently brewing each up and extracting the best out of each copy.

We believe in community . Temple Grounds work directly with farmers, both local and overseas. In Sri Lanka, we are involved with the education, sponsorship and empowerment of local coffee farms. Our ethical buying practices focus on dealing directly with farmers and co-ops and less as possible with traders and middlemen.

It is vital to understand that different brewing methods require different coffees that were roasted with a specific cup in mind. At Temple Grounds we pay specific focus on the each estate and blend. We personally test each blend and single origin on a weekly basis to ensure the deliciousness and the consistency of the flavour notes.
